We become The Petersham’s sole preferred cake supplier

In August 2022 the Petersham Hotel wedding venue expressed its delight in welcoming 7Marvels as its sole preferred cake supplier for weddings and parties.

The wedding venue at the Petersham Hotel is matched by no other for its view – and what a view it is! You look down over Petersham Meadows, where cows may be grazing, across to the stately River Thames, winding its way through the green and pleasant leafy land, trees showing on much of the horizon. It’s very difficult to believe you are within a stone’s throw of the M4 and just a few miles from the centre of London. In fact, on New Year’s Eve you can see most of London’s fireworks!

The Petersham was built in 1865 and displays a charming Victorian splendour. It stands between what remains of Richmond Hill’s Common and Petersham Common, on Nightingale Lane, named after the songbird famous for its beautiful melodies.

When I created the first cake for a wedding here, the request was for a 2 tier naked cake – not as risqué as it sounds but simply iced in white, to allow the client to decorate it in her own, very personal way. She used a beautiful array of flowers and also macarons which, of course, I made specially for her.

Another event for which I supplied a bespoke cake was a wedding anniversary. On this occasion the request was to include a skull on top of the cake, not for any sinister reason at all but to reinforce the part of the wedding vow which talks about fidelity – staying together ‘until death do us part’. 

On both occasions the hotel staff were very helpful and supportive of my involvement.

These two cakes were a good example of how, at 7Marvels, we try to accommodate the client’s wishes to the utmost, to create exactly what they have in mind for their day of romantic celebration. That way, we also feel delightfully involved in the happy event.
